Dysphemic grew up in The Blue Mountains, a rugged region west of Sydney in Australia’s New South Wales. Known for its dramatic scenery it’s an area that boasts waterfalls, dotted villages, steep cliffs and forests. That juxtaposition has informed Dysphemic skillfully imbues cosmic drum ‘n’ bass meets intense cerebral rap sound.
Dysphemic’s creative tendency stems from his experience and humble beginnings, programming on a Commodore Amiga 500 computer and then playing drums in bands as a teenager. While his metal band past is an influence, the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene raised him.
Though Dysphemic has taken the Aussie scene outside of its comfort zone already, he’s not stopping yet and today he share his YOWIE EP with the world.
Fascinated by music that makes people feel like they’re going crazy, Dysphemic hopes his latest EP will give his currently simmering career as a producer/mc some trajectory and scope for a full album in the near future.
Listeners are bound to question their sanity while progressing from the pounding vibes and pacey wordplay on tracks like “Kron”, while the slow building “Level 20 Wizard” and the EP’s title track “Yowie” offer something incredibly different. The EP displays an adept sound, from an artist that refuses to be anything like anybody else out there right now.
